New photo gallery

Well, these months have come and gone and all of a sudden it's February and I'm soon going to be hitting the skies in some more semi-adventurous travelling. I'm off to the States and Canada via London on 23rd Feb.

In preparation, I've decided to upgrade my photogallery. Not that I was really unhappy with my self-cusom-made gallery that I thought was pretty impressive, but I thought I would like to have something to integrate with the new Movable Type platform I've upgraded to. And, after seeing the Doctor's new photo blog I decided that the templates from Stopdesign would be a good bet. After some nifty importing I managed to get all my old photos in there! Turns out I've got over 1900!!!

So, go on, have a look here and you can expect to see some more soon from my travels!

A new addition to my website

Well, I've finally caught on to the "proper" bloggin system! Instead of using my old, feature-lacking self-created blogging system, I've decided to use the MovableType system. It should be interesting and should give the site a bit of a fresh flavour! So, hopefully from now on, writing should be a lot easier! I think I'll still keep the photo gallery the same, just because I can.

The Peacock

So, the story goes that I know the sound a peacock makes.

Lucky for me, not many people do.

5FM ran a competition a couople of years ago, promoting the new Sony HI-8 Digital Video Camera. The beauty of the camera was that it has Super Steady Shot and Super Night Shot - perfect for taking on a safari. I entered and was lucky enough to get on the show. To win two people had to compete and make animal noises that the DJs had to identify, they then voted for the best one to be the winner.

I did the peacock, and suprise, surprise, I won. Great prize - have made good use of it during my travels and on the side of the rugby field filming some spectacles like the Camps Bay Old Boys game of 2003 where Martin, my brother, was seen running around in a leopard-skin tank-top!

Anyway, I've sworn not to repeat the peacock to anyone, so if they heard they were lucky! So, I thought I should provide the sound of a real peacock for all to hear.

Here it is: peacock.wav

tucj.com goes live!

This is the first article I'm writing for tucj.com. Destined to be an invaluable help to those lay people out there looking for info on random things!

I decided to start this site, after I decided it was about time I had my own personal site. I've been working in the IT industry for a few years, especially as a web developer. So, I thought, why don't I have a personal website? Well, here it is. It may look really simple, but that's the idea. Short and concise, yet still laden with useful stuff.

The site will probably be a mish-mash of things. I will be chatting about things that interest me, or things that might be of interest to others as well.

Of course, like everyone else, I have a few passions in life and hope to chat about them. There'll be articles on rugby, with my biased opinion swinging towards any South African team, stuff about the Internet, programming, Wi-Fi, etc.

Hopefully any problems or interesting situations I come across will have happened to someone else as well, and they'll be able to use this as a resource to help them.
